Châteauvallon Scène Nationale # Saison 2019/20
All of Châteauvallon's buildings have been awarded the "Remarkable Contemporary Architecture" label. It is the uniqueness of the work and the innovative and experimental nature of architectural design that have enabled Châteauvallon to obtain this label.
With stunning views of the Mediterranean and Toulon harbour, the 1,200-seat open-air amphitheatre hosts large-scale shows in summer. The Amphitheatre is one of the first constructions of the site made in 1965, carried out with the help of hundreds of volunteers, which makes Châteauvallon probably the only place of performance built in part by its public. We could hear the greatest international jazz artists or discover the greatest contemporary choreographers, or more recently, Christophe in concert or the Nuits flamencas.
The Covered Theatre
Equipped with retractable and modular bleachers, the Covered Theatre has the advantage of hosting all forms of shows, from the frontal to the four-frontal, in seating or standing concert. With a capacity of 400 to 800 seats, it hosts events throughout the season from September to July.
In 2013, the large rehearsal studio was transformed into a 90-seat concert hall. Equipped with modular bleachers, the Baou has been designed to accommodate lighter shows in technique but above all to promote a close relationship with the public and bring a different perspective on the show and the artists.
Open on show nights, the restaurant's covered dining room extends into a terrace among the pine trees. Tamaam's caterer offers several options: aperitif, snack, hot meals always made with local products.

The creation of shows has been at the heart of Châteauvallon's project since its inception. The "round house" and the bastide allow artists-in-residence to be welcomed on site.
Châteauvallon is located in a 300-hectare rolling pine forest overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Charles Berling and Pascale Boeglin reconnect with Gilles Clément, landscape designer and theorist of the "Garden in Motion", already at the origin of a first reflection at the beginning of the history of Châteauvallon. The natural spaces are fully integrated into the new cultural project and the hiking trails invite you to open up the reflection to sports or fun activities in the open air.
