Bali music and dances

"Ngayah!" will bring together the 35 musicians and dancers of the Marseille gamelan Bintang Tiga and his Parisian brother Puspawarna during this exceptional evening.

Bali's Gong Kebyar gamelan is a collective instrument, an indivisible entity composed of bronze metallophones, gongs, flutes and drums played by twenty musicians.

Bali's music is virtuosic, fast and contrasting in its dizzying variations in speeds, flows and dynamics, it requires its performers, the penabuh, great coordination.

Balinese dances can be considered as entertainment for men or intended for the Gods in their ritual function, inspired by the great Hindu epics Mahâbhârata and Ramayana, the Javanese legends of Panji and chronicles Balinese royals babad.

Gamelan Bintang Tiga, Gamelan Puspawarna, Jérémie Abt, Theo Merigeau, Tseng Hsiao-yun, Agung Krishna Sutedja [Music Direction], Kadek Puspasari Moure [Choreographic Direction], Kati Basset [Balinese Culture Specialist]
