Théâtre Liberté # Saison 2019/20

On a melancholy theme, the Peeping Tom collective excels in this wonderfully playful portrait of a gently cracked humanity, whose tender humour produces an irresistible greyness.

The first part of a trilogy about the family (Father, Mother, Child), Vader portrays a father at the delicate moment when he arrives accompanied by his son in a nursing home. As always with Peeping Tom, the melancholy of the situation is transcended by a wildly surreal vision of a fantasy as funny as it is disarming. You don't get bored for a second in this hospice for the elderly, whose décor reproduces a ballroom where a concert is being prepared. The father, installed at the piano, embarks on a frenzied recital while around him the bodies deform and the objects take their independence. Subtly mixing theatre, dance, contortions and music, this enchanting show transports us into a parallel world that is both strange and charming, but above all deeply human.
